Recorded Delivery with Alecky Blythe
Join us for a workshop where participants will record conversations with the public using smartphones. The day will explore verbatim techniques to tell stories that combine journalistic and performance methods.
British playwright and screenwriter Alecky Blythe has pioneered the innovative verbatim technique, originally created by Anna Deavere Smith. Deavere Smith was the first to combine the journalistic technique of interviewing her subjects with the art of interpreting their words through performance.
Alecky Blythe has recently worked on a new commission for the National Theatre, adapted London Road for a film with BBC and Cuba Pictures and has co-written Friday Night Sex for the Royal Court’s Open Court Season with Michael Wynne.
Please bring headphones and a smartphone to the workshop if you have them.
