Own De Beauvoir!: Michael Edwards
A public discussion about the movements, organising and events that have determined the urban space of De Beauvoir Town in recent decades.
Photos, community newsletters and other material from these events will be on display before the discussion, from 6pm. Food will be provided, free of charge.
Michael Edwards was a member of a commune in Buckingham Road, De Beauvoir, from 1972 until its dissolution around 1990. He studied planning at UCL 1964-6. He then worked on economic inputs to the Plan for Milton Keynes and similar consulting work for a few years. He has enjoyed lecturing in planning at the Bartlett School, UCL since 1969 and been involved in all the EiPs (Examinations in Public) on London Plans since 2000, working with the network of community groups JustSpace.org.uk. His publications are at michaeledwards.org.uk and he tweets as @michaellondonsf. His paper on housing and land over the next 45 years, in the government Foresight project on the future of UK cities, will be published after the 2015 election.
