Peer to Peer: UK/HK 2022

We’re very excited to announce Open School East’s involvement in Peer to Peer: UK/HK 2022 – Inspiring exchange between visual arts in the UK and Hong Kong.

Peer to Peer: UK/HK 2022 is a collaborative programme connecting visual artists and arts organisations across the UK and Hong Kong. Working within a distributed leadership framework, 9 UK visual arts organisations have developed partnerships with 9 Hong Kong organisations, to create unique projects that encourage exchange between more than 43 artists, and over 160 students. It culminates in an online festival of international exchange and collaboration on the 26 September – 9 October, including new digital artworks, live performances, presentations and discussion.

For the programme, we worked in collaboration with Rooftop Institute (HK) to commission two new artworks; a new videowork by OSE alum Hicham Gardaf and live performance work by Morgan Wong.

You can watch both commissions on the festival website: peertopeerexchange.org

As part of the festival, we hosted an online ‘in-conversation‘ event with Peer to Peer: UK/HK 2022 commissioned Artists, Hicham Gardaf and Morgan Wong, in which they discussed their newly commissioned artworks; The Storyteller and Journey. The event was chaired by OSE Artistic Director Polly Brannan.

During the event, Morgan and Hicham discussed their commissions and shared insights into how they embarked on a process of research, sharing of ideas and production of work that responds to the unexpected outcomes of teaching and pedagogical processes.
