Demand the Impossible: The 1%, why have they been winning?
Across the world, inequality has grown to levels never before seen in human history, with just 62 families owning as much as half the world’s population. Regulations on big business and the banks have been abolished and public services defunded. At the same time, collective institutions like trade unions, political parties, religious organisations and even the family have been weakened and undermined, and a culture of individualism dominates. How has this happened, and what are the consequences? What should replace our neoliberal, individualistic culture, economics and politics? Are there ways for the 99% to come together and fight back?
