OOMK Residency, 2015
Between October and December 2015, OOMK undertook a Future Library residency at Open School East, supported by Book Works and Arts Council England.
This residency responded to the current Open School East library collection and was structured to facilitate research and exploration into the future of The Library. OOMK reimagined the function, aesthetic and user culture of the library and created a publication in conjunction with Book Works. The project included a free public workshop and a small-press publishing fair.

Future Library Zine Making Workshop
OOMK led an afternoon workshop on zine making and self-publishing. The theme of the workshop was Future Books with the collective facilitating a discussion and delivering two mini sessions in collage making and typography. Participants were encouraged to invent their own titles and blurbs and were provided with templates and collage materials to create their own zines to take away. The workshop began with a short talk by Leila Kassir, Librarian at LCC, on zines and self-publishing.
Saturday 19 December 2015, 2-7pm
Publishing Fair, hosted by OOMK
OOMK organised a small press & zine fair at OSE – featuring over 40 small publishers and zine stalls. There were works for sale as well as reference displays of zines and artists’ book collections. Stalls are free but each stall holder was required to donate a zine or book to OOMK’s Future Library project for OSE.
