Please join us for the second open day of the 2016 associate artist programme at Open School East. The day will feature presentations of artworks, films, performance, reading groups and workshops. These offerings represent the associates’ on-going work throughout 2016. There will be a bar service throughout the day, as well as dinner and artist cocktails at 7pm.

Open all day – a group exhibition in Studio 13 by OSE associate artists Anni Movsisyan, Bekki Perriman and Theo ShieldsAlex Ressel will present a draft towards a multichannel moving image installation and research in the OSE Vitrine, while Emil Sheffmann and Henry Babbage will be showing work in different parts of the building.

2pm – Performance of Where Blips of Light Called Players Disintegrate.

Using song as an agent of transmission, Anneke Kampman, Gery Georgieva and Molly Palmer will perform an ode to Valentina Tereshkova, the first female astronaut to orbit the earth’s atmosphere in 1969.

2.30pmEleanor Vonne BrowneThe Cast of the Crystal Set.

The Cast of the Crystal Set, various artists. Audio. 1’06 min. In the Sound Studio.

Alongside this Eleanor will be running the Home Brew Self Pub, including Golden Ale with D.I.Y zine.

3pm – Reading Group: Learning from Hindsight and Gift

A reading group examining sections from Ivan Illich’s Deschooling Society and Jaques Rancière’s The Ignorant Schoolmaster: Five Lessons in Intellectual Emancipation. We will explore ideas of learning together without authority or institution. The texts will be read together on the day, but if you’d like to do your homework early, email OSE associate Alex Ressel.

3.30pm – Films and sound works by OSE Associates in the sound studio:

Love where you live by Rosie Morris will shown at 3.30pm and then on the half hour for the rest of the day.
Project (?/?) by Louis-Jack Horton-Stephens will be show at 4.00pm and then on the hour for the rest of the day.
Interviews from The Doorways Project by Bekki Perriman will play in between the film screenings.

4.30pmEmil Scheffmann presents: half formed ideas and first impressions north of the equator. Emil will consider the demands of an artist talk and offer an informal presentation in the style of a holiday slideshow.

5.30pm G. Body Work.

Ève Chabanon will give a talk about G. Body Work, a two year collaborative project with a class of auto body mechanics in a vocational high school in Aubervilliers (France). The talk will explore notions of moonlighting and the group’s relationship to labour and resistance, in the burning context of France in the last year.

7pm – Vegan feast and cocktail bar.
